Riding Barnhartvale Road in Kamloops, BC.

Route Type: Loop

Distance: 182 km (113 miles)

Scenery: 10/10

Twisties: 10/10

Road Quality: 10/10

Heads Up: Watch out for wildlife and cattleguards.

I recently rode Highway 97 to Kamloops and looped back via Barnhartvale Road—and I have to say, Barnhartvale Road is quickly becoming one of my favorites. It’s a local favorite in Kamloops, and after riding it, I totally get why. The road is packed with twists, turns, and stunning scenery, all with minimal traffic. I had a huge grin on my face the entire way.

While Barnhartvale Road was the highlight of the route for me, the ride along Highway 97 to Kamloops has plenty to offer too. From long straight stretches where you can really open the throttle, to scenic lakeside curves around Monte Lake, this route delivers from start to finish.

If you’re looking to extend the ride, it pairs well with roads like Westside Road, Duck Range Road, or even Salmon River Road. Lots of great options to keep the ride going.

I respectfully acknowledge that this route is located on the traditional and unceded territory of the Syilx (Okanagan) and Secwépemc peoples.
