Route Type: Loop
Time to Complete: 2 hours, 13 minutes
Distance: 171 km (106 miles)
Scenery: 9/10
Twisties: 10/10
Road Quality: Most of the route is a 10/10, but Duck Range Rd is more like a 5/10 due to debris in the corners.
Heads Up: Watch out for sand and gravel in the corners on Duck Range Rd.
If you love carving through twisty backroads with big views and almost no traffic, this Shuswap loop will have you grinning inside your helmet.
The route strings together two of my favorite Shuswap roads: Salmon River Road and Notch Hill Road—a rider’s dream of endless twisties, sweeping views, and almost no traffic.
As a bonus, the start of Notch Hill Road is home to a great little motorcycle café and museum. It’s the perfect spot for a quick bite, a coffee, or just a leg stretch while you wander among the bikes, memorabilia, and stories on display.
After hearing plenty of recommendations, I decided to tack Duck Range Road onto the route as well. It certainly delivers on the curves and quiet scenery, but I did find the road surface a bit sketchy in spots (see photos below)—especially in the corners, where loose sand and gravel made it tricky to roll on the throttle with confidence. It’s still a worthwhile ride, but one to approach with extra caution in the bends.
To see this route on the map, select the "ROUTE - SHU-A1: Salmon River Rd + Notch Hill + Duck Range Rd Loop" layer.

Want to extend the ride? This route goes well with Westside Road.
I respectfully acknowledge that this route is located on the traditional and unceded territory of the Secwépemc people.
